Assoc. Professor Liv Inger Somby

Liv Inger is a Sámi speaking journalist who has covered Indigenous news and stories for the last 30 years. She is a member of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Norway and has worked as a journalist, editor and project manager in several countries, including Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia.

She is now Associate Professor at Sámi University of Applied Sciences, based in Guovdageaidnu in Sápmi, in the Northern part of Norway (above the Arctic Circle), where she teaches Indigenous Journalism at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

She is also a member of The Broadcasting Council at the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation and leader of The Sámi Broadcasting Council at NRK Sápmi.
