Looking for something to do in the days before HOSW8? Why not take in the Winda Film Festival?
The 3rd Winda Film Festival will be taking place from 22-25 November 2018 – Celebrating Indigenous Films Under the Milkyway!
The Winda Film Festival showcases Indigenous films from around the world from award-winning feature films to shorts from the bush. In 2018, we celebrate an array of diverse films and genres by Indigenous filmmakers from over 9 countries, 20 nations represented and with over 20 different languages spoken.
Winda will also feature a Virtual Reality session presenting five Indigenous works and a free open-air cinema experience under the stars for our closing night of Greenlandic film, Akornatsinniitut Tarratta Nunaanni (Among Us In The Land Of Our Shadows).
Winda means ‘stars’ in the Gumbaynggirr language from the north coast of New South Wales. The name of the festival draws inspiration from Aboriginal Astronomy, where we look to the stars for guidance, creation and for our ancestors.
Main Festival Screening venue – Event Cinemas, George St (505-525 George St, Sydney)
Virtual Reality Session – Friday, 23 November 2018, University of Technology Sydney (UTS)
Closing Night Screening – Sunday, 25 November 2018, Barangaroo Reserve
