Associate Professor Papaarangi Reid (Te Rarawa) is a Public Health Physician and Tumuaki (Associate Dean – Māori) at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, The University of Auckland, New Zealand overseeing the development of teaching and research programmes focusing on health issues affecting Māori communities. She holds science and medical degrees from the University of Auckland and is a specialist in public health medicine. Prior to this she was the Director of the Eru Pomare Māori Health Research Centre at the Wellington School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Papaarangi was made a Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (Royal Australian College of Physicians) in 1995. Her research interests include analysing disparities between indigenous and non-indigenous citizens as a means of monitoring government commitment to indigenous rights.
